As a relater, the teacher cares about, supports and encourages each child; therefore he:

  • makes himself readily available to each child in the group and focuses his utmost attention to the physical, psychological and scholastic needs of each and every child.
  • talks to each child as a good human being and draw him out in frank, meaningful conversation.
  • listens and shows an absorbing interest in what each child is saying.
  • responds with honest consideration to the ideas, inventions and discoveries of each child.
  • expresses confidence firmly in each child’s specific ability to progress.
  • makes positive statements of recognition regarding each child’s co-curricular and extra-curricular achievements.
  • controls his negative and bitter feelings in a responsible way and allows children know what his feelings are.
  • displays honesty and fairness in his interaction and transaction with children
  • approaches his work with willingness, confidence and optimism.
  • sees situations through the eyes of the child and looks for the goals of each child’s actions.

The first condition of a teacher is that he shall be a teacher and nothing else.
